Student Study Spaces
Many health sciences classrooms, when not scheduled for classes or events, are available for study:
Small classrooms without technology
- Remain unlocked 24/7 and are open to all students when not scheduled. These rooms are not available during the weekend without reservations.
Other classrooms and lecture halls with technology
- Unlocked at 6:30 a.m. and locked at 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Unless scheduled for courses or events, these rooms are locked on weekends.
These rooms are first and foremost classrooms and must be ready for courses. Please:
- Put tables and chairs back in their original configuration and dispose of any trash.
- Vacate the room when custodians begin to clean.
- Call Facilities Management at 612-624-2900 if there are spills or large amounts of waste that needs disposal.

- Health Sciences Library manages reservable study rooms in Phillips-Wangensteen Building on Floors 2, 3, and 5, and in the Health Sciences Education Center Floor 2 and in a large Quiet Study study space on Floor 5.
- Center for Health Interprofessional Programs (CHIP) Student Center
- Caribou Coffee, Moos Tower 2nd Floor
- Freshii, Phillips Wangensteen Building 2nd Floor. Approximately 3,500 SF of study space on the second floor of Phillips Wangensteen Building (PWB). Main seating area is only open during Freshii hours. A small seating area outside of Freshii is available 24 hours a day.
- Molecular and Cellular Biology Building Lobby and link to Jackson Hall. Approximately 1,700 SF of study space on floors 3 and 4 of the Mollecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) building, near the main entrance and in the link to Jackson Hall. Other staff/researcher lounges in the building are not available for study space. 24-hour access for Medical School students.
- Nils Hasselmo Hall Lounges, 2nd through 7th floors. Approximately 4,000 SF of study space in lounges on floors 2 through 7 in Nils Hasselmo Hall. These lounges are not available for study space during the lunch hours (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.) as they must be available for building occupants. 24 hour access for Medical School students.
