Software Development

Academic Health Center Information Systems (AHC-IS) Research Development Service (RDS) provides comprehensive software development services to the University’s world-class researchers as well as external community customers. These include the University of Minnesota Medical School, School of Public Health, and the Food Protection and Defense Institute (a Department of Homeland Security - Center of Excellence).

Services span the entire development lifecycle, including the development of web-based data collection systems, tablet/mobile applications, and integrated reporting tools that compile data from multiple enterprise systems. The RDS team develops solutions which leverage integrations with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), building systems with modern standardized software design that are loosely coupled and highly cohesive. RDS has developed several open-sourced applications in Ruby and JavaScript (Node.js) that have been implemented at other educational institutions and government agencies.

RDS solutions are deployed to cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services, centrally managed on-premise, or the AHC-IS managed HIPAA compliant environment.

To request an initial consultation, please email the team at ahc-rds@umn.edu.
